Tuesday, Wednesday, Happy Days! Thursday, Friday, Happy Days! Saturday, what day, Groovin' all week with you!!!

Man, what a great last few days! The week was a total blur. As you may or may not know, this weekend is Spring Fling for my university. CJ and I decided to make a trip to Stop and Shop on Tuesday to stock up on essentials for Spring Fling, ie. sodas to mix our drinks with. There was an amazing deal on Stop and Shop sodas, 10 for $5. We basically knew that we were going to buy them, but I needed a third opinion. I called Dave and told him about it, and his response was an immediate "Hell yeah!" We now have 10 sodas at our disposal, actually, it's probably down to 7 now.

Thursday, CJ, his friend Laura, Xian and I decided to spend the day at the park and use up the rest of our film to make room for the next roll specifically meant for this weekend. We originally were going to go to some park in Bloomfield, but CJ used Mapquest (fucking Mapquest) and we got lost. We ended up going to a local park that we usually like ot go to. We got some nice pictures of geese, foliage, and Xian trying to hitch a ride at the side of the road. We also hiked up a trail in the park and we ended up in a cemetary. Usually a cemetary isn't the best place to hang around, but there was a nice picturesque view of Bloomfield and we were compelled to walk around for a bit. After our romp in the cemetary, we decided to go get dinner. There is a nice Thai food restaurant nearby so we went there and ate. The food was very good, even though Xian and I forgot what orders we got. We made a compromise by splitting our meals in half. Everyone was happy. After eating we headed back to the university, just in time for nice ominous clouds to come our way and rain on us. Later that night, Dave came by and he and I rehearsed our song. He wrote a song called the Ballad of Skeeter, basically it's a song about drinking, and he asked me to put it to music. The rehearsal came out very well, and we were excited as hell to record it. We planned to record it on Friday.

Friday, class as usual, then celebration time!! Ron and I had some of his Southern Comfort. It's pretty good, tastes just like candy! Later in the afternoon, Dave came by to record the song. We had such a great recording setup: My 20GB mp3 player and the add-on microphone/radio attachment. As shabby as it was, it worked like a charm. I set it up, and we recorded it. We went over the first recording, and we said it was perfect! One take!! Can't get any better than that. We let Xian and Ron listen to it, and they loved it! Ron's only response was "That's...probably the greatest song i've ever heard!" To this point we're amazed at how well it came out seeing as how our setup was, in a word, crap. I uploaded to my computer, fixed it up so that it would play on both channels (The microphone will only record in the left channel, don't ask me why.) After editing, Dave and I submitted the song to MySpace and PureVolume under the band name The Hott Lixxx. If you're ever on either of those sites, check it out.

Click here to listen to the song.

Later that night we were joined by the usual suspects. Ron brought down his stash for the weekend (Southern Comfort, Captain Morgan, and Smirnoff Raspberry Twist) and Dave bought his bottle of Jack Daniels. It was a lot of fun watching eveyone (except CJ and Xtina) get sloshed. Erin and Lauren were already drunk when they arrived. It was a lot of fun messing with Lauren, she's like an open target when she's drunk.

Later that night, we all walked around the VIllage for a while to see what was going on. I saw a bunch of my friends out there, including one of our friends that transferred to Iona, Marty. He was nice and wasted when we saw him. It was a lot of fun seeing everyone all messed up. I had a few to drink, but it didn't hit me very hard. I wasn't really in the mood for drinking yesterday. I won't be drinking today, not really feeling in the mood to drink. Ron went off to find somehwere to drink, and CJ, Xian, Xtina and I came back and relaxed. Ron stumbled in at around 3, literally. He opened the door and tripped on the floor. It was pretty funny.

Today has been pretty good so far. CJ and I met up with a few people and had brunch. After I left, I saw that there were bands that had started playing already. I decided to stay and watch a few of the bands play. One band called Porto, they were a really good rock band, and the lead was female and really cute. After porto, my friend Matt from the Silent Groove and Joe Battaglia made it on to the stage with their band. Apparently Matt is going solo for a while, so he's got a solo band going. They were incredible. In usual Matt Zeigler fashion, he and Joe did a freestyle of whatever they saw. I held up my afro pick key chain, and Joe made a rhyme about it:

"Hey Calvin, you're gonna need a bigger pick for that afro!!"

Matt came up with a rhyme about my 'fro comparing it to ?uestlove's from the Roots. It was a good show overall, and as soon as I get money from the bank, I'm gonna find Joe and buy the CD.

That's about it for now, more to come tomorrow. Until then, take care and be safe!

This weekend = Teh Awesome!!!

[Listening to: Calvin Williams and Raphael Singer - Jam #1 from the album ""]

So this weekend was fantasmagoricalnessitudinality!! Friday started off with Josh and I going to Guitar Center and hanging out there. 'Twas so much fun, even though they didn't have the guitar that I wanted out on display. I was able to try out all the different amps and guitars they had there, though I pretty much limited myself to the hollowbodies. Josh got a chance to check out all the different basses and bass amps there. He got a chance to talk with one of the workers there, Chris, and he set up this amazing bass head and cabinet combination that sounded absolutely incredible! I'm not sure who had more fun with that cab, Josh or me!! I came up with this bass riff and started ripping it! I may have amazed the both of them! I asked Chris about good amplifiers for the type of music I like to play, and I asked if solid state amps or tube amps would be the way to go for me. His immediate response was tube amp. He showed me this really nice tube amp and demonstrated its advantages over solid state amps. The sheer power and bite that came out that amp was incredible! I checked it out for myself and was very impressed. I will definitely look into that. Before we left I bought a Gripmaster hand exerciser so I can increase my finger strength.

Later on that night the usual suspects came out and chilled with us for a few. We went out to the market to get some random snacks, and there I meet Josh and his people. Josh was already inebriated at that point. Ron and I decided to hang with him for a little while, everyone else went their separate ways. Much fun was had, much beer was drank.

Saturday, a good day as well, even though it rained for most of the day and well into the night. Josh came by and we played Cribbage, an awesome card game. Later on, the usual suspects came back and we had movie night. We saw Kill Bill Volumes 1 & 2 and Closer. I have no idea what closer was about because I didn't see it. My friend Rafi called and asked if I wanted to jam with him. Granted it was raining and at that point it was 1 in the morning, but what the hell. We played for a good hour and a half or so, playing as many Soulive songs as we could think of. It was fun for everyone. At one point we got into a jam and got an idea for a song going, so we decided to record it for future reference. It has a lot of potential, and we are going to build on it at a later date. After that jam session, the usual suspects and I hung out for a bit, and then we all decided that we were hungry and ate at Goldroc at 3 in the morning. I had a western omlette with home fries and toast. So delicious!!! Nothing like hanging out at a diner at 3 in the morning. Dave and I had a half-and-half chugging contest, the first to 5 wins. I smoked him! It was pretty funny! We all had fun, and then we ended our night at around 4:30 or so.

Sunday was pretty uneventful, we all had stuff we needed to do, so we decided to procrastinate and watch Ocean's 12. Not a bad movie, though I hear Ocean's 11 was much better. I must watch it one day.

Guess what I have?! Family Guy episode S4E1!! The first new episode in 4 years! I'm not gonna tell you where I found it, you'll have to find it yourself. But I will say that if you love Family Guy and you had any doubts about this new season, this episode will kill any doubt in your mind. It was freakin hilarious! I'm looking forward to this season even more now!

Enough of the babble for now, time for bed. Stupid classes. Meh, oh well, G'nite

P.S. (Jam # 1) This is the song that Rafi and I came up with. Let me know what you think!

Again with the dreams!! What's going on?!

[Listening to: Soulive - Nealization from the album "Turn It Out"]

Alright, this dream was much different from the last one. It wasn't weird, it was more like unusual. Here we go: I dreamt that I made it to Heaven. Heaven looked like a really large room, almost infinitely wide, but it had a ceiling, and the incoming souls came in through the ceiling. I start to notice that some souls that make it to heaven got injured along the way somehow, and me and a few other souls are put in charge of nursing the incoming souls back to health. The bulk of the dream had me taking care of the injured souls. Toward the end of the dream I asked myself, "I wonder where God and Jesus are around here," and not too long after that, I woke up. I wonder what that was all about...

Wow, what a weird dream...

[Listening to: Soulive - Turn It Out from the album "Turn It Out"]

Well, I had yet another weird ass dream last night. Oh yeah, I have many weird dreams, as chronicled in my Livejournal. Alright, on to the dream. I was bored, so I told CJ that I was going to go for a drive. Note that I don't have a car, so the implication was that I was going to take CJ's car. All CJ said was "Alright." So I go get in his car, but it wasn't his Subaru Lagacy stationwagon. Instead, it was a lime green Volkswagen Beetle. So I go driving, and for some reason, my driving sucked ass, and I could handle turns at all. I couldn't even handle road curves. At one point I found myself driving on the curb... on the wrong side of the road. Fortunately I managed to not hit anybody. I turn into a parking lot, and I have to slow down to a creep because there were schoolchildren in the way. As the children slowly moved out of my way, I crept into the parking lot. Just then, everything started getting dark and eerie and the children started getting this creepy look in their eyes. The next thing I know, I see, out of all things I could possibly see in a situation like this, Incubus, in a music video-type sequence. It wasn't any song or video by Incubus that I've ever seen. Oddly enough, there was only three members of Incubus there, singer Brandon Boyd, guitarist Mike Einziger, and bassist Ben Kenney. After the weird music video sequence, I woke up very confused.

What an awesome day!

[Listening to: Soulive - Uncle Junior from the album "Turn It Out"]

Today turned out to be a really good day. My Assembly language class was cancelled for the second time this week. I wonder if the professor's alright. I hope he didn't come down with a sickness that tries to consume his soul like last term. He barely made it out of that one. I hope all's alright. Since that class was cancelled, and it was the only class I had for that day, I had yet another day off! W00t!! I decided to celebrate by going to the Commons and meeting up with my friend Josh. We enjoyed some delicious sub-par crap and then we decided to take advantage of the lovely day and go to the mall. It was quite an adventure trying to get to the mall. We were on the highway, and Josh noticed that his truck was starting to act up. He looked on the dashboard to see if anything was up. He was out of gas. "Oh, shit!" was the first thing that came to both of our minds as we realized what was going on. Josh got off at the closest exit and tried to find a gas station. As soon as he made it onto a main road, the car started sputtering badly. He stopped the car in a random driveway to give the car a rest. All we could do at that point was laugh because neither of us had ever experienced something like this before. He turned the car on, and it held up good enough to make it to a gas station a block away from where we were. What a relief that was! After the truck was gassed up and we had a drink to calm us down, we were able to make it to the mall with no problem.
We didn't really do to much at the mall, but I did end up buying a Guinness shirt for $10. Not bad, I'd say. After the mall, we stopped by Toys 'R Us and bought a Backgammon game. Josh likes Backgammon and I wanted to learn, so it worked out for the both of us. While we were there, I got a chance to try out Donkey Kong Jungle Beat for the Gamecube. That is a very interesting game I must say. Your only controller is this modified bongo drum and you have to bang on the left or right drum to move left or right, and other various combinations for movement. I actually started getting into it. As soon as I was getting into a groove, the demo ended. Rats. After we left there, we stopped by Daddy's Junky Music. I don't remember what time we arrived, maybe around 2:30 or so, but we didn't leave until sometime after 6. We had so much fun playing around with all those instruments, we almost didn't leave. I got to play the guitar that I've been drooling over again, the Ibanez Artcore AWD82 in electric blue. I LOVE THAT F#$%!*& GUITAR!!!! It plays ooooooh soooo nice, it feels nice, everything about it screams quality. And it's only $350, which is pretty inexpensive for a hollow body guitar. While I was spacing out on that guitar, Josh toyed around with all the various delicious basses out on display. We had so much fun playing around with the guitars and basses and amplifiers, We wouldn't have left until it closed if it weren't for the fact that dinner was going on at the Commons. We made it back in time to catch up with all my people. We ate with them, and then we were going to go to Buckand Hills Mall with two more of our friends, but the truck could only fit three people at most. We tried squeezing everybody in, but that was a terrible idea, so we scratched that idea and decided to play board games at Josh's. We played Spades, Backgammon, Cribbage, and Mancala, all of which were a lot of to play. By the time we were done playing all those games, it was almost 11, so I decided to call it a night.
And now I'm back here, and I'm going to install my DVD burner since it's finally back from the manufacturer. Hopefully it's all fixed and crap now. Fingers crossed!!

P|-|34r my skills once more!!

[Listening to: Soulive - Ne-Ne from the album "Next"]

My friend Jessie asked me last week if I could put her hair in box braids. I told her I could do it since I've done it before. Today I gave proof to my word. She came by today and I worked on her hair. She has really nice straight hair which made parting it a breeze, but she has a lot of hair and relatively long so it took 6 DAG BLASTED HOURS to braid!! Along the way, Jessie's boyfriend Kin came by to oversee everything. Kin is cool, but he's extremely, EXTREMELY jealous. But there was nothing going on other than hair braiding. I am a man that respects boundaries. Kin should know that because he knows me as well. The highlight of the day was when Kin started helping with the braiding. He was having way to much fun with her hair! It was really funny. He caught on pretty quickly too. After six grueling hours, the deed was done. It came out really good too. Jessie was real pleased about it. Kin liked it a lot as well. I'm glad I could help you out Jessie.

The week sucked big hairy wookie nuts. I've been sick with a head cold the whole week. What made the week even better was that I had two presentations to make. One of which was for Intro to Literature about Langston Hughes. That one was a group presentation, and it turned out pretty well even though I had lost most of my voice at that point. The other was for Civilization after 1500. I had to write a book report on a scholarly book of our choosing. My book: The Social and Economic History of Germany from William II to Hitler. That book was sooooo hard to read and to write about. I managed to write three pages containing a few key points of the book. My professor understood the difficulty of the book and the fact that I wasn't feeling good that day (along with the cold, I got a rude awakening by my stomach. 'Nuff said), so she took it easy on me. I'm so glad I was able to get that over and done with. I did alright with that presentation. Immediately after that class I went to the library and returned that book. I hope I never have to see that book ever again.

This weekend was a blur. Nothing major to report other than going to the mall and buying Soulive's Turn It Out and Next CDs. Both of them are incredible. Turn It Out keeps it simple and gritty, and remains powerful throughout the whole album. Next gives a fresh spin on the already incredible Soulive sound. Needless to say I'll be annoying Ron and CJ with these albums for the next few weeks. That's about it for me.

So people like the new look. W00t!

[Listening to: The Silent Groove - Inside My Mind from the album "One To Give"]

For the most part I've been getting very positive reactions to my shaving my facial hair off. The only somewhat less positive reaction was from Lauren with the comment "Wow, you have reverted back to a 13 year old!" It's all good though, I've learned to appreciate the baldness of my face. I'm still thinking about how much my cousin Luther and I look so much alike, almost like we're brothers. It really makes me wonder.... Anyway.

This morning suck balls hardcore. I woke up early so I wouldn't waste my day, and I felt like absolute shit. I had a headache that I felt in the back of my neck, my nose was stuffy, and I was hacking and sneezing like a car that wouldn't start. I couldn't do anything other than go back in my bed and sleep. Ugh, terrible. I woke up around 11 a little better, but I was still feeling crappy. I took some Dayquil and within a half hour I was feeling a lot better. My voice is trying to give out on me and my nose gets stuffy every so often, but I'm trying to fend it off as much as I can. I really like how I get sick after winter is over. Eh, whatever.

My face feels naked...

I was walking around Gengras today when I saw my friend Dave. The first thing I noticed was that he shaved off his beard. He looked pretty odd and almost would have looked like a totally different person if it weren't for his familiar piercing blue eyes. But his lack of facial hair inspired me to shave off my trademark mustache and goatee, which as of late has been accompanied by an ever increasing beard toward my jawline. After classes and after dinner, I went back to my room, took out my electric razor, and shaved it all off. I even shaved off my sideburns which I haven't touched in years. I feel weird wothout my facial hair, but people are reacting positively to the change. It's not a bad look either. I'm definitely noticing the Williams family resemblance in my face. I can't wait to see the look on my friends' faces tomorrow!

Happy April to all, bitches!

[Listening to: Incubus - A Certain Shade of Green from the album "S.C.I.E.N.C.E."]

This week hasn't sucked too much. I got back a few papers and projects that I worked on before spring break. English journal entries: B+, History test: B-, assembly language project 2: 10/10. Who's the man! In other news, Darren, Ron and I gave our roommate Kyle a nice April Fools surprise. At around 5:30 in the morning, while Kyle was sleeping off a night of drinking, we duct-taped his doorway. At the very top, Darren wrote "April Fools!!" We didn't get a chance to see Kyle's reaction, but he told us that when he opened his door, he didn't see the tape immediately, and he walked right into it like a fly in a spider web. He had to punch out the tape to get through all of it. This act of shanannery has set off an all out war between Kyle and Ron and Darren. I'm just glad that Kyle doesn't know I was a part of it! XD

I pulled another all nighter last night. I had to read 272 pages of a boring ass book and then write a book report and presentation on it for History. I didn't read the whole book, but I BSed a report and presentation in time for class. I really did not want to present it. Mainly because I was tired as hell. I slept through most of my English class and most of History. Fortunately the person who got up and presented before me took up the whole 50 minutes for his. That gives me the opportunity to de-suckify my report and make an acceptable presentation.

While on my way to get some quarters for laundry, I caught up with my friend Carla who I hadn't seen in a few months. I met her last year and she graduated that year. Of course one of the few females on this fucking campus that I have interest in and she graduates... (tears) Anyway, that's for another rant-worthy post. It was very good to see her. She looks beautiful as always. She's trying to make her way back into Hartford for her Masters degree. We walked around and chatted for a while. Being in the company of a beautiful female is always a good thing. And now I'm back here, maybe I'll do some laundry before I go out. We're all going out to see Sin City tonight. It looks very awesome, and it has Jessica Alba gyrating provactively, which is never a bad thing. After the movie, we'll celebrate our watching Sin City by having fondue. It will be a very good time.

Until then, peace and w00t cakes...
