W007 V4ld3z!!

This has been a good Spring Break so far. Saturday I hopped on the bus and came home. I wanted to catch the 10am bus, so I set my alarm for 7:00, but I woke up at 8:49, so I settled for the 11am bus. I come home and relax for a few hours, hang out with my mother and my cousin who was in town for the day, then I got dressed to head to Williamsburg to go see Root Valdez. The show was supposed to start at 8:30 and go until 10:00. I left my house at 8, and I figured I'd be a little bit late, but no. I forgot I could take the short route to Williamsburg, which consisted of taking one bus and two trains, but I ended up taking the long route, which consisted of taking 4 trains. I didn't realize that I could've taken the short way until I was three trains and 45 minutes into my trip and had passed by the station I would've entered had I taken the short way. As I see the train station, a moment of "GODDAMMIT!" hits me. I got on the last train I needed to take at 9:00.

I hauled ass from the train station to The Lucky Cat, and made it there at 9:25. I wasn't concentrating on anything other than getting to the show, I didn't even take notice to the peple around me. I was about to walk through the door, but then I heard someone call my name. I turn to see who it is, it was Colin Beauchemin, the lead singer of Brooklyn rock band Aleda. We had never met in person until that point, but we've been in touch online through MySpace and the Ghetto Crush message boards that he'd know me if he saw me. I talked to him for a few minutes, then I went inside to catch the rest of the show. My friend St. Clair who I was gonna meet there got to the show about 10 minutes after I did. I caught about a good half-hour, but they really brought it at the end. especially when they started to jam while Fred the guitarist figured out why his guitar/laptop rig was messing up. After the show Fred and Chris the drummer came up and greeted me. I've met them before, and keep in contact with them online as well. It was good catching up with them. I met quite a few people there and caught up with others. I met RV's newest addition, singer Leslie Graves. She has quite a voice, and very pretty. I almost started blushing while I was talking to her. In addition to meeting Colin, I met Joe McDonald, the drummer from Aleda, Mike Pierce, Eric Wilhelm, and Jody Shelton, bassist, guitarist and lead singer of the Jody Shelton Band, another local music gem. Chris plays drums for that band, and Mike was RV's bassist for the night. I also caught up with another person I met After the show a whole bunch of them were planning to hang out at this bar called the Barcade, and they invited St. Clair and I to join us.

The Barcade is a friggin' amazing place. It's a big kid's paradise. It's a bar and an arcade, full of old school arcade games like Asteroids, Tetris, Arkanoid, Mrs. Pac Man, Super PunchOut, and OutRun, just to name a few. We all bought drinks, hung out, laughed, talked, basically had a great time. There are a lot of good drinks there on tap. I tried Doc's Draft Cider. Very tasty. I wanted to try Magic Hat, but I forgot to give it a try. All in all, Saturday rocked. I got to hear some great music, met a bunch a chill people, hung out with them afterwards, and got some great pictures. I think I'll call it a night. G'nite!
